Hung Vuong Foods Processing Export Company, which was formerly known as Hung Vuong Frozen Seafood Enterprise established in 1987, was upgraded to Hung Vuong Export - Import Co., Ltd by Decision No. 100 / QD-UB on March 18, 1993 by the City People's Committee.

After many years of operation, the brand has been known by many business units around the world, and has been awarded Swiss Silver Cup for high quality products. However, due to the change of management mechanism, the company failed to keep pace with the development of the market economy. In 1994, in order to strengthen the comapny, the City People's Committee had to transfer the management from the People's Committee of District 6 to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

By 1998, the Company had to apply for bankruptcy under the direction of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, in parallel with a plan to restore production and business with the support from creditors’ council and department of management, having nearly two years to prove the it’s viability. Hung Vuong Company was granted Decision No 285 / DC-PSDN dated 29 December 2000 by the City People's Court to suspend the business bankruptcy due to the requirement of the creditors' council and the potential for production restoration.

Being aware of the existence of a state-owned enterprise, over 300 employees of the company have made efforts to accomplish political tasks given, strive to exceed the annual targets, continue to build stable and better units, and step by step take care employees.

Under the direction of 13/2006 / CT-UBND dated 14 April 2006 of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, the relocation of polluting facilities to the suburbs is pressing, hence the relocation of the factory. On October 19, 2007, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City issued Decision No. 4754 / QD-UBND approved “the project of relocating and reconstructing Hung Vuong Food Processing Factory” in Tan Tao Industrial Park.
