Thermocouples

A thermocouple is made of two connected, but dissimilar, metal wires that produce an electronic potential directly related to a change in temperature. These changes in voltage are predictable and repeatable in relationship to the temperature. Thermocouples have a wide range in temperature but aren’t as accurate as RTDs or thermistors

Thermistor Assemblies

Sensor Scientific thermistor based assemblies are used in industrial analytical instruments, automotive air-conditioning systems, thermistors also monitor temperature of lithium-Ion power packs in hybrid electric automobiles. Sensor Scientific extremely low and high temperature rated RTD probes are suitable for industrial and commercial freezers as well as in high temperature ovens.

Sensor Scientific makes sensors to meet customer needs; our engineering team will evaluate your thermistor and/or RTD applications, we will work with you from the prototype stage to a production launch.

In addition to thermistor assemblies, Sensor Scientific develops and makes various RTD sensor assemblies with temperature ranging from – 70 C to 500C for variety of applications.

These are only some examples of our parts. Please contact us for more information.

RTDs

RTDs, resistance temperature detectors, are usually made of highly pure platinum metal. Their resistance varies in direct and repeatable relationship to temperature. RTD platinum temperature sensors have long-term stability and tight tolerance over a wide temperature range. They are used for applications in variety of electronic instruments, white goods, HVAC, energy generation industries and machinery controls. The operating temperature of an RTD is greater than a ceramic thermistor and the changes from one degree to the next are small compared to a thermistor.

Thermistors

NTC thermistors are elements whose resistance falls with an increase in temperature, and find use in applications such as temperature sensing.

Sensor Scientific Inc. offers variety of high quality NTC thermistors. NTC thermistor material and chips are made in New Jersey , USA.

A thermistor or thermal resistor has a resistance value that varies in a predictable way in relationship to temperature and is usually made of ceramic material, as opposed to RTDs or thermocouples that are made of metal. The amount of resistance change from one temperature to another is substantially higher than changes measured by RTDs.

Thermistors are everywhere…in cars, airplanes, air conditioners, computers, medical equipment, incubators, hair dryers, electrical outlets, digital thermostats, portable heaters, refrigerators, ovens, stovetops an all kinds of appliances.
